The FP-3000 CM x 1.500 gantry milling machine can handle parts up to 118 inches (3000mm) long by 59 inches (1500mm) wide. The Z-axis (vertical) travel ranges from 5.9 to 33.5 inches (150 to 850mm) in height. The useful table dimensions are 118x39 inches (3000x1000mm) and supports up to 11,023 lb (5000kg) of distributed weight. With these travels, it handles practically any truck, tractor or heavy industrial equipment engine requiring precision machining.

The machine uses a milling head with ISO 50 taper spindle, universal standard for heavy tooling. It has two rotation ranges: 100 to 500 rpm via gears and 500 to 3000 rpm via belt. The motor is 15 hp (11.25kW) with hydraulic counterbalance. It accepts draw-bar tool changing system and can receive optional angular heads for machining from 0° to 90°, expanding machining possibilities on complex parts.

The main difference is in control: CNC uses Fagor 8037 controller that automatically programs all movements, while manual depends on operator moving the axes. CNC guarantees exact repeatability between identical parts and enables machining of complex programmed shapes. Manual is cheaper but requires experienced operator to maintain precision. The part is secured on the 118x39 inch (3000x1000mm) table and the head moves on X, Y and Z axes according to CNC programming. The ISO 50 spindle rotates the tool from 100 to 3000 rpm while advancing at maximum 33 FPM (10m/min). The cooling system with 1100W pump and 185 gal (700L) tank maintains controlled temperature. The hydraulic counterbalance with nitrogen compensates head weight, ensuring consistent precision throughout the entire part machining process.

The machine has automatic lubrication system for linear guide pads, reducing manual maintenance. It requires regular preventive maintenance on hydraulic system, coolant oil changes and verification of telescopic and bellows-type protections. The Fagor 8037 controller is robust and reliable.
