The BVC-1400X Chinelatto can bore cylinders from 1.5 to 5.9 inches (39 to 150mm) in diameter using extra spindles. With standard spindles, it works from 2.2 to 5.1 inches (55 to 130mm). The table measures 61.4x19.7 inches (1560x500mm) with 47.2 inches (1200mm) useful longitudinal stroke. For milling capacity is 47.2x12.6 inches (1200x320mm). Features 7hp motor, variable spindle speeds (100-1200rpm), vertical feed 1.6-39.4 IPM (40-1000mm/min) and table feed 0.4-16.9 IPM (10-430mm/min). Weighs 5070 lb (2300kg) net.

Cylinder boring works by securing the block on the table with parallel supports, centering the tool spindle in the cylinder using movable pins and dial indicator. The tool rotates and descends cutting the cylinder in successive passes to final dimension. Variable speed drives allow adjusting cutting speed and feed rate according to material. Manual lubricator cools the tool. Each cylinder is measured with micrometer to ensure precision and parallelism between all engine cylinders.

Maintenance includes daily lubrication of prismatic guides using the installed pump, cleaning chips from headstock protection, checking manual lubricator oil and table cleaning. Weekly, verify alignment with dial indicators and calibrate micrometers on measuring devices. Monthly, check variable speed drives and adjust clearances. Service life exceeds 20 years with proper use. Brazed carbide tools last longer in soft materials, indexable inserts are economical for heavy use.
